mmm … mkay … tomorrow cemetary and goth night.
my attempts to retain emotional distance are never very effective.
<mindlace> i ate a pig that had probably been tortured its entire life before finally being put out of its misery in a festering pile of its screaming kin.
<space> i mean, part of the fun of having a pet is being to interact with it
people with family don’t understand what it is for the rest of us. Not that that they don’t sympathize, or maybe even empathize, but there’s something about those people and their resilient web to fall back on that makes them alien to those of us that walk alone.
Friday night I went out on the town in my electric blue suit and red shirt. Quite the supervillain outfit. Went to the barcode, got slimed by some creepy completely hammered fag, had a beer on the bar (thanks, barcode!) and had another thanks to Jason, who proceeded to take me out on the town.
Went to g… something, the bar the other way on grace street, and was immediately surrounded by a bunch of college age kids. The theme was ostensibly 80’s night which, well, I don’t think these kids remember the 80’s, as most of them seemed to be dressed in a fucked melange of 70’s and 90’s. Then again maybe they, like me, didn’t know about the theme before hand.
Danced there a little bit and then decided to go to Penny Lane which is not a coffee shop but instead is an english pub. There I proceeded to drink every single malt scotch they had that I had not had before; 4 scotches, all in all. No, I don’t remember their names.
Woke up Saturday with only a bit of a hangover, wandered out into the big blue room and walked up grace street about 10 blocks to this nice little cluster of shops. My goal was to go to grace street shops where I bought Planetary and The Filth. Went to two punk/goth clothing stores- of the two I like the ummm apocalypse? one better than Exile, it has a bunch of stuff I want to buy from it.
Cute punk girl at apocalypse tells me where a sushi bar and cafe are, up on Robinson.
So I walk another 10 blocks up to robinson, then walk over from broad to the World Cup, which is a cafe with ethernet! and a whole bunch of punk/goths!.
By this time I’m starving so I order a hummus bagel and a double iced moca. I sit, at a cool cafe, reading comic books and drinking a double iced mocha out of a pint glass. Yay! Happy birthday to me!
I talked myself into bumming a cigarette off of this girl who had some spirits, but it was her last one and she only had camels after that. I decided that was A Sign(tm) and was a good monkey and had no cigarette.
After that I walked home. I was going to watch a punk show but had not enough cash left (fuck yooo wachovia).
so stu says that I can be safe eating beef from http://www.conservationbeef.com . Which sounds good to me. Not that I have a huge fondness for beef.
So right now I’m polishing off A new Kind of Science. It’s neat but man is he brave to make so many inferences from his little computer world.
I also just got the first trade paperback of Planetary which is supremely kick ass. Also picked up the first issue of The Filth which was … interesting, in a Truman Matrix sort of way.
Anyway those are good comix and there’s a whole mess of other comix I’ve got to get now that I have some money and live in a town with a comix store.
