It is my theory, based off of everything I’ve observed and read, that humans are essentially built to be decent to one another.
Many people go off about how humans are intrinsically evil, greedy, etc. etc. Nonetheless it seems that the evidence is in the contrary. From the fact that we get off on being nice to each other, to the fact that the best way to win prisoner’s dilemma is to start nice, then copycat, and even if things are going badly to periodically “forgive” and try again…
Basically we’re nice. Friendly. Try to do good.
Most of what sucks in human behaviour, in my estimation, is brought out by limits in environments; scarcity (real or artificial) begats greed and violence, for example.
