Cyberart Weekend
Last weekend, vika and I went to some of the exhibits in the boston cyberarts festival. We had with us our new camera http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_a510_a520-review/index.shtml">(the powershot 510)- it’s got the same resolution as the last one, but it’s much better in almost all respects. It’s super tiny, at least a second faster to turn on, and takes better low light photos. We took a number of photographs, and for your viewing pleasure I present the ones that didn’t suck.
The Shadow Play exhibit was one of the best. We made some movies of the pieces there. First there was this piece comprised of 12 boxes. You could walk in front of it, then walk away, and it would make your shadow fill the “next” frame of the boxes. Sean and I made the second row from the top show YMCA. The next one was a shadow of a guy pulling on a piano. Oddly enough, if you stood in front of him, he exploded. You could also push the piano, but it didn’t do much more than jiggle, so I didn’t record that.
The next one was a big screen- you moved in front of it, and then it showed the last few people’s shadow that moved in front of it. I, and my shadow, did a silly walk.
Finally, there was another one with a lit box; you could push the box around. The box really wanted to move to the upper right-hand corner of the screen, so you had to fight it if you wanted it to go to the left. Luckily, Vika was ready to fight the good fight.
All in all, it was a really fun weekend.
