US deficit and tax evation

I guess I’d heard this before, but it didn’t really sink in until just now, listening to NPR in the car: about 4000 of the wealthiest “persons” (individuals and corporations earning more than $200,000 a year) in the United States regularly practice criminal tax evasion. We knew this, right? But what Robert Kuttner says is that, if they did, we’d have no national deficit..

Sigh. That simple, huh? Damn humans.
